For the frill seekers...

We now have in stock Sole for all you frill seekers out there!  This fun and frilly yarn is a quick and easy knit with very fun results.  Sole is 66% cotton and 34% nylon and you only need 2 balls to make this lovely scarf.  We have four different colours for you to choose from to make this perfect accent piece.

And just another reminder we are changing our shop hours as of tomorrow (Monday June 27)!  We will now be open from 10:00 - 7:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 - 4:30 on Sundays.

On a sad note we recently learned that Stacey a shop regular is moving to North Carolina at the end of the month!  Stacey (pictured above on the right at Mermaid's Ball) has been a part of Knits by the Sea from the very beginning including helping us move twice, teaching at the shop and working part time here.  We are very sad to see her go but wish her all the best!  So to send her off properly Stitch Night this Wednesday June 29 is being relocated to Shelter Restaurant and the theme is Sex and the City!  So wear you high heels and cute outfits and come out to Shelter for an evening of yummy food, drinks and stitching!  We are making reservations so if you are planning to join us please contact us so we can save you a spot.

Summer is here!

It was very exciting to change the window from spring to summer yesterday.  It's hard to believe that July is just around the corner!  For the window and the shop we have a few new samples as well to help keep you inspired during these warmer months.  The window picture isn't perfect but hopefully you get a taste of our new display.  And with these warmer summer days comes our summer hours!  Starting on Monday June 27 we will be open from 10:00 - 7:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00 - 4:30 on Sundays. So there will be more time for you to come in and see what is new!

Here are a few photos of some of our new samples.  The first is a tank from the book "French Girl Knits" and was knit up with Kidsilk Aura.

This wrap was knit up with Outer from Spud and Chloe.

And everyone who does yoga can use a pair of yoga socks!  They were knit up with Malabrigo Worsted Merino.

For full details on these projects and the patterns you can find them in our "Knits by the Sea" group on Ravelry.  Come and join in the fun there!

Busy Weekend!

It was a busy weekend here in Tofino for us at the shop.  We had the World Wide Knit in Pubic Day on Saturday and the Edge to Edge relay marathon on Sunday!  A big thank you to Laura and her friends for joining us on the front porch of the shop on Saturday for a sunny afternoon of knitting in public.  It was perfect weather!

A big thank you to the Edge to Edge relay team for their great effort!  Thank you Sarah, Joey, Kat and Sandy for being part of the team and making this day possible.  It was so much fun and we are looking forward to doing again next year!

A yarn of a day!

A big thank you to Claire who came out this week to help with the unpacking and labelling of some big shipments of yarn!  This picture was taken at the beginning before she got completely surrounded by yarn.  It was a big job and it would have been even bigger if it wasn't for her!

We are still unpacking more boxes but most of it is out!  Be sure to come by and see what new colours we have in.  We have restocked on AslanTrends Los Andes and Del Sur which are always popular and there are some new colours.  More Noro Silk Garden and Retro are in and if you just want to make some dishcloths we have more colours of Cantata Cotton too!  We also brought in Sole which creates a frilly, ruffly scarf.  You have to come in to see it for yourself.  AND we have Paper in stock!  This unique yarn is 100% paper and makes great beach bags but is also washable.  Lots of fun summer projects to make!

Fun in Coombs!

Knits by the Sea's table filled with Indigo Moon yarn!

It was a fun Sunday spent in Coombs this past weekend. Sandy and I headed to the 100 Mile Fleece and Fibre Fair at the Bradley Centre just outside of Coombs for the day.  It was so much fun to meet so many new people and see so many different fibres that are available locally!  It was a busy day so we wanted to say thank you to everyone who came by our tables.  Sandy brought some of her beautiful hand dyed yarns, kits and hand knit items and I brought Indigo Moon.

Sandy with all her handmade items.
World Wide Knit in Public Day is coming up on Saturday June 11!  And we will be participating again this year.  We have a great front deck in front of the shop at 366 Campbell Street and so weather permitting we are thinking it would be a great day to sit outside with some yummy treats and refreshments and knit in public!  The knitting in public will begin at 1:00!  So bring your projects and join us for a fun afternoon of knitting on Saturday June 11!
