Unexpected Events

Life sometimes throws an unexpected curve ball that derail plans and unfortunately this was the case for Fibrations.  Our sincere apologies to those who went hoping to see us there.  We were really looking forward to this event and were sad to have to cancel the day before the event due to some personal issues which made it impossible to come.  Having spoken to others who went it sounds like it was a fantastic event which we knew it would be!  A big thank you to Stephanie and Ryan from Knotty by Nature for organizing this event and we are hoping to make it to next years event!

Finished Project and Great Models!

It is always so much fun to get to see someone's finished project.  And it's even more fun to be there when the person finishes the project during a Stitch Night because we get to see them model it for the first time!  Kim was kind of enough to let Vicki photograph her with her finished scarf.  And of course little Moku had to show off her mom's scarf.  Thanks Kim!  The scarf looks amazing!

Come and join the fun every Wednesday for Stitch Night.  It's from 6:30-9:30 and there are refreshments, great company and lots of stitching!

New Class with a Special Teacher!

We are very excited to be offering a Beyond the Basics Crochet class on Monday August 8th from 6:00 to 9:00 with a special guest teacher!  Bev Ireland is a published designer and avid crocheter.  She brings a wealth of knowledge and is very excited to have some time to teach while visiting the west coast!  The Beyond the Basics crochet class will be taught using the In Bloom Cloche hat.  So you will learn how to do a star stitch and how to read a pattern.  And this hat is perfect for any season with the cute flowers on the side!  So don't miss this great opportunity to learn some new crochet stitches, make a cute hat and meet Bev!

New Kits and New Samples!

Sandy has just dropped off some new kits here at the shop.  We are so excited to have these new needle felting kits to add to our collection.  We now offer two different sheep kits and an alpaca kit!  The kit comes with everything you need to make these cute fuzzy animals (including the bell for the sheep!) and the alpaca is actually made with alpaca!  Come in and see these cute new additions to the shop.

The July newsletter has been posted!  See what is happening at the shop for the month.  Just click here.

Two new samples are now on display at the shop.  Thank you to Claire for knitting up this very cute little cardigan out of Blue Sky Alpaca Organic Cotton.  This eyelet cardigan is the perfect sweater for those cooler summer evenings.  The sand dollar buttons add a little bit of fun and summer to the sweater. And being made out of 100% cotton it's breathable and not too heavy.

The Cedar Leaf Shawlette by Alana Dakos was knit up in Marjorie a silk and merino 4 ply yarn by Sweatermaker yarns which is hand dyed in Courtenay.  Patterns and yarn are available at the shop so come on in for a visit!

Sex and the City Stitch Night!

It was a great night at Shelter this past Wednesday for our special Stitch Night.  We moved the Stitch Night to Shelter Restaurant so that we could say goodbye to Stacey in style!  So we decided to make it a Sex and the City theme with cosmos and our high heels!  Thanks to all the ladies who came out.  It was lots of fun and we even did a little knitting!

Happy Birthday Canada!  There are lots of Canada day festivities going on here in Tofino.  There is a market all day in the Village Green and a skateboard competition in the afternoon.  This evening there will be fireworks off a barge so be sure to head down to First Street dock for a great show.

On a sad note we recently learned that Stacey a shop regular is moving to North Carolina at the end of the month!  Stacey (pictured above on the right at Mermaid's Ball) has been a part of Knits by the Sea from the very beginning including helping us move twice, teaching at the shop and working part time here.  We are very sad to see her go but wish her all the best!  So to send her off properly Stitch Night this Wednesday June 29 is being relocated to Shelter Restaurant and the theme is Sex and the City!  So wear you high heels and cute outfits and come out to Shelter for an evening of yummy food, drinks and stitching!  We are making reservations so if you are planning to join us please contact us so we can save you a spot.
